Tomatoes are one of the vegetables with high cultivation area and yield in world, and are favored by many growers. Seedling cultivation is crucial in the process of growing tomatoes, as it directly affects the yield and quality of tomatoes in the later stages. 1, Germination induction
Tomatoes can be nurtured after being stimulated to sprout, which is beneficial for maintaining a healthy and healthy seedling. Soak the seeds in warm water at around 30 ºC for three to four hours, wait for the seeds to absorb water and expand, then remove them and place them in a white gauze to remove any flattened seeds that float on top. After wrapping with white gauze, place it in an environment of 25-28 ºC for germination.
If there is no constant temperature box, you can put it on a hot water bag and cover it with a slightly damp towel. Try to keep the temperature outside at around 28 ºC. Generally, it will be exposed to white after 48 hours. After about 70% of the seeds have sprouted, they can be sown.
2, Choose a nutrition bowl
The methods of tomato seedling cultivation include hole tray seedling, nutrient bowl seedling, and peat seedling. There are many specifications for nutrient bowls, including those with a diameter of 8 centimeters, 10 centimeters, and 13 centimeters. Generally, tomato seedling cultivation takes more than 20 days, and a nutrient bowl with a diameter of 8 centimeters can be used. Then pour the nutrient soil into a nutrient bowl, arrange it in sequence, and put 2-3 sprouted seeds into each bowl.
3, Temperature management
When promoting germination of seeds, attention should be paid to maintaining a good temperature. The indoor temperature should be maintained at around 26 ºC, and the seedlings can emerge in about three days. After more than 65% of the seedlings come out of the tray, they can be placed in the greenhouse. The temperature in the greenhouse should be controlled at around 25 ºC during the day and around 17 ºC at night. If the temperature is too low at night, warm measures such as heating the ground wire should also be taken to avoid reducing the emergence speed and causing diseases such as sudden death.
4, Seedling management
1. Divide the tomato seedlings before they grow 2-3 true leaves and move them to the tray. For the next 4-5 days, the daytime temperature shall not exceed 33 ºC and the nighttime temperature shall not be lower than 13 ºC. If the temperature exceeds 33 ºC during the day, it is necessary to release the wind for a short period around noon.
2. The management of tomato seedlings is very important, and the main diseases that occur include sudden death, wilt, and early blight, which should be prevented and controlled in a timely manner. After emergence, keep the soil moist and not too dry, and spray it thoroughly once a day. Wait until 5 days after emergence, use 2g of calcium chelate, 4g of agricultural streptomycin, and then add 30kg of water for spray. After 4-5 days, use 5g of potassium dihydrogen phosphate, 2g of boron chelate and 3g of oxamycin for spray. After another 5 days, apply 5g of calcium chelate, 2g of boron chelate, and 4g of clostridin to spray.
3. When tomato seedlings grow 4-5 true leaves, they are prone to overgrowth. For tomato seedlings that have already grown vigorously, 50 mg/kg of chloramphenicol can be sprayed. The seedling period is about 20 days. Before transplanting, microbial agents can be used to raise the seedlings before transplanting.
