The planting requirements for granulated marigold
Similar to those for ordinary marigold.
The following are some common points:
1. Planting time: Marigolds can be planted in spring or autumn, depending on the climate and season of the region.
2. Soil selection: I prefer fertile and well drained soil. Soil can be improved before planting by adding decomposed compost or organic matter to enhance fertility and drainage.
3. Transplanting: Transplant when the seedlings grow to a certain height (usually between 12-18cm in height, with stems reaching 0.5cm, and each seedling containing 3-4 leaves). The day before transplanting, water thoroughly and ensure that the seedlings are well watered by digging large holes. Transplant evenly or top water according to a plant spacing of 30-40cm.
4. Lighting: Marigold is a light loving plant that requires sufficient sunlight, with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight exposure per day. However, it may require appropriate shading during high temperatures in summer.
5. Water management: Keep the soil moist, but avoid over watering to prevent root rot. When watering, it is important to adjust according to the season. Watering should be done in the morning during summer and autumn, and at noon during winter and spring.
6. Fertilization: Regularly apply fertilizers suitable for flowers during the growing season to provide the necessary nutrients for the plants. When fertilizing, attention should be paid to controlling the amount of nitrogen fertilizer used to avoid excessive plant growth without flowering. You can choose to spray a certain amount of urea, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, or organic potassium fertilizer after each flower picking to supplement nutrients.
7. Pruning and management: Regular pruning can promote lateral bud branching growth and maintain plant morphology. After the flowers wither, trim the flower stems and excessively long branches in a timely manner. When the plant height of the seedlings reaches 20-50cm, ridge and soil cultivation can be carried out, but be careful not to bury the top center of the first branch of the seedlings.
8. Prevention and control of pests and diseases: Regularly inspect plants to promptly identify and address pest and disease issues. Common pests and diseases include brown spot disease, root rot disease, wilt disease, powdery mildew, aphids, leaf miner, etc. Adhere to the principle of prevention first, and use appropriate prevention and control methods when necessary, such as manually removing pests or using organic pesticides.
Different varieties of marigolds may have some differences, so it is best to refer to the corresponding planting guidelines for specific varieties and make adjustments based on local conditions during actual planting.
